| Lucy's War (World War II) by Mike Brooks |
| Suitable for children aged 7 - 11 year old |
This 45 minute play follows the sotry of Lucy, a young woman from Bethnal Green in London's East End. She has a chance meeting with Walter, a farmer's son during an air raid. Lucy decides to "Do her bit" for the War effort and sign up for the land Army. She is sent to Norfolk where she finds herself on the farmbelonging to Walter's father! Each scene takes place in a different year of the second world war so we see it's effect on Lucy form it's declaration right through to VE day. It tells an educational and entertaining story using dialogue, mime, singing and audience participation giving the audience an idea of what life was like in both town and countryside during the second world war. Lucy's War is an ideal aid to Key Stage II children studying World War II but is entertaIning and stimulating for those who haven't looked at the subject before. "All well done very good storyline with good factual content. Barking Dog never fail us." Roman Invasion - Montgomery Junior School, Colchester |
